The Bible says in: 2 Thess. 2:3
"Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;"
This verse is saying that in the last days Christian people are going to fall away from the truths of the Bible and that Christians will rebel against God.
Rock 'n' roll represents our sensual and rebellious nature against God no matter what flavor it comes in whether it be soft rock, hard rock, "Christian" rock, punk rock, or death metal. This has been proven by observing the attitudes of some of those who are involved in rock 'n' roll.
The message of rebellion against authority is a dominant part of rock 'n' roll.
There are parents who claim to be Christians and have very defensive attitudes when it comes to their children's music because they know that it will upset their whole life. The parents may even tell their children that they don't need to listen to those who are preaching out against so-called "Christian" music. We as adults should be setting the example for the youth and showing them that the Christian life is not easy and that there may be things that God requires us to give up that are very hard. Instead we areeteaching them to disregard the things that we do not want to hear and only listen to the things that we can handle.
Here are some important questions to ask ourselves. Are we too afraid to consider changes in our lives? Does the preacher have scripture to back up his teaching? If so, why don't we at least consider what he has to say? We need to go search the scriptures for ourselves and be sincerely open to what the Lord wants to reveal to us.
Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
Many Bible teaching preachers are considered old-fashioned and weird in the eyes of the youth (and adults). This is nothing new; those used of God in the Bible were also looked upon with disdain. Think about Noah; the whole world laughed at him. Just because nobody seemed to think that Noah was right - did that make him wrong? Noah and his family were very much in the minority. Isn't this what the Bible teaches it will be like? In Luke 18:8 it says, ...Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? Why would Christ find it necessary to ask this question if He knew we did not have a tendency to follow our flesh and carnal nature?
The beat in rock music is what causes the carnal, sensual feelings; it is not necessarily the words.
Here are a few "testimonies" to confirm the above statement and they are straight from the rockers themselves.
Jimi Hendrix said "music is a spiritual thing of its own; you can hypnotize with music and when you get people at the weakest point, you can preach into the subconscious what you want to say." Life, Oct. 3, 1969, Page 74.
"Don't listen to the words. It's the music that has its own message. ...I've been stoned on the music many times." (Timothy Leary, New Age guru and promoter of LSD. Politics of Ecstacy).
Homosexual rock star, David Bowie in Rolling Stone magazine stunned the music world, when he stated: "Rock has always been THE DEVIL'S MUSIC . . . I believe rock 'n' roll is dangerous . . . I feel we're only heralding SOMETHING EVEN DARKER THAN OURSELVES."(Rolling Stone, Feb. 12, 1976)
Richard, one of the architects of rock 'n' roll, from "first-hand" experience, knows who is the "author" of rock 'n' roll. He says "My true belief about Rock 'n' Roll - is this: I believe this kind of music is DEMONIC. . . A lot of the beats in music today are taken from voodoo, from the voodoo DRUMS." Little Richard (Charles White, The Life and Times of Little Richard, p. 197) "I was directed and commanded by another power. The power of DARKNESS. . . The power of the DEVIL. SATAN." Little Richard (Charles White, The Life and Times of Little Richard, pp. 205-206) As for using rock music as a "tool" for the Lord. Here's what Little Richard said: "Rock 'n' roll doesn't glorify God. You can't drink out of God's cup and the devil's cup at the same time. I was one of the pioneers of that music, one of the builders. I know what the blocks are made of because I built them." (The Dallas Morning News, Oct. 29, 1978, p. 14A)
How is it that Little Richard, a homosexual, rock star has more discernment than a lot of supposedly, born-again, Spirit-filled, Christians?
Here is a quote from Stryper: "We're not religious fanatics who are trying to convert everybody we meet. . .We honestly believe that Jesus Christ is the Savior, but we're about the most unreligious Christian band you could imagine. . . " Robert Sweet, of Stryper (Hit Parader Nov, 1986, p. 21)
"One quick way to destroy a society is through its music." Vladimir Lenin
"When modes of music change, the fundamental laws of the state change with them." Plato
"We respond to the materiality of rock's sounds, and the rock experience is essentially erotic." (Simon Firth, Sound Effects, New York: Pantheon Books, 1981, p. 164)
Now that I believe the Lord has called me to be an evangelist to the lost and a missionary to the Christians, I have been praying about what the Lord wants me to do specifically The Lord has given me peace about writing this article. I truly feel the Lord's leadership in speaking out against one of Satan's greatest deceptions - "Christian" rock.
I am willing to be used of God to come and speak at your church against Christian Rock. Currently I am working on an extensive slide show in which I hope to reveal how rock music is destroying our young people and how rock has its roots in voodoo worship.
I understand that in our small churches many of the pastors do not have a lot of extra time to research such controversial subjects and I would like to help in this area. I predict that if we do not start speaking out against rock music and other specifics soon we will have very few scriptural churches left that will impact the world for Christ.
Please pray for Beth and I as we try to reach out to troubled kids in this generation before it's too late.
